Video games allow players to step into the shoes of a multitude of heroes from Italian plumbers to genetically modified super soldiers. Over the decades, gamers have prevented world domination, collected heaps of loot, and rescued enough princesses to be deemed a true champion. With the help of The Video Game Voters Network and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH), players can transcend their in-game feats and become a real hero, a video game hero.
The charity Extra Life, an annual 24-hour video game marathon, is raising money for children’s hospitals across the United States. This day-long charity event begins at 8:00 AM October 20th, 2012 and will raise money for the hospital of your choice. Now is your chance to join thousands of gamers in the biggest gaming charity event of the year. Last year, Extra Life raised more than 1.2 million dollars for sick children, and with your help they can reach and exceed those numbers this year.
To join in on such a great cause, register at www.extra-life.org/team/videogamevoters. Everyone is free to register as an individual or gather some friends together to register as a team. Create a goal, rally family and friends to sponsor you to play throughout the day on October 20th, and you will help raise money for sick kids across the country.
Each participant is currently raising money by recruiting at least four sponsors to give $1 for each hour of the marathon, only $24 per sponsor. And any donation large or small is appreciated.
I’ve hopped on board for this great cause and will join the thousands of Extra Life participants in an epic video game marathon. To support me as a sponsor, please visit the following link: sponsor me, 100% of the proceeds go directly to children’s hospitals who help treat children regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
This is our chance to give back by doing something that we love. Video games are usually a hobby for me, but on October 20th, I have a chance to make a real difference. Please spread the word to your family and friends and support a great cause.
